Kawasaki Disease Awareness Day

Today is Kawasaki Disease Awareness Day.

If you've read on my blog ever you'll know that my 6 year old was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease August 2013.  If you haven't you can go to that link and read his whole journey.

It's a good that we have a day because this disease is still pretty unknown and still misdiagnosed like crazy. It's the leading cause of aquired heart disease in children.

What can you do?

You can donate any amount of money to the Kawasaki Disease Foundation. Kawasaki Disease has no diagnostic test. None. It's diagnosed based solely on the experience of the doctor, which is extremely scary to think about since most doctor's haven't seen it and a lot of times cases show up like Lucas' where it's atypical (not all of the symptoms are present at once). He was misdiagnosed by two ER doctor's and 3 pediatricians.

If you are broke like we usually are you can still help spread the word!

Contact the KD Foundation and get posters for your doctor's office to hang up. The team is super nice and it's completely free. I got a huge packet in the mail FULL of 8x11 and then some 16x20 posters.

You could easily save a life it will take you less than 10 minutes to contact the KDF and get some posters to take to your  next visit.

I'd be lost without my monster in my life.

Spread the word.

In the hospital August 2013

One of many heart echos he has had since I'd say we were at least around 20 now.

My very active 6 year old now playing fall soccer 2014. Heart in normal range, no heart damage, no aneurysms, although he does have some slight joint pain but that's part of it.

Spread the Word.
